Our Instructors and Founders

Amy Van Kirk - Co-Founder

Smiling woman with blonde hair in black top.

Amy moved to Newport in 2022 which has been an incredible life experience for her and she is excited to give back to the community by co-founding Titanium Yoga.  Her goal is to provide a space filled with kindness, happiness, and personal growth for all that come to her classes.

Amy has been teaching yoga since 2008 after completing her RYT200 yoga certification in Skaneateles, NY.   Amy has also attended numerous workshop immersion trainings with master teachers: Jason Crandell,  David Regelin, Sadie Nardini, Todd Norian, Desiree Rumbaugh, and Nikki Costello.

Amy has taught various types of classes over the years including slow flow, vinyasa flow, power yoga, yin, foundations to yoga, and her specialty, which is alignment based vinyasa flow.  Amy’s belief is that keeping the body aligned prevents disease and allows you to experience the depth of poses and works with each student to help them achieve personal growth in their practice.

Off the mat Amy works in the field of clinical research as a senior global talent acquisition director. Amy is also involved with Newport Contemporary Ballet and is the President of the Trout Lake Association.

Amy’s quote on what yoga means to her:

“ I believe that yoga helps you find yourself – the balance between mind, body, and spirit.  Yoga is more than an exercise on your mat – it is a lifestyle and is what keeps you grounded throughout life. Seeing students evolve is incredibly rewarding and the reason I teach yoga”.

Fun Facts about Amy:

Mom to identical twin 22 year old boys, loves cooking, hosting parties, decorating and traveling internationally

Stefanie Mansfield - Co Founder

Smiling woman in a black leather jacket.

Stefanie relocated to Newport with her husband in November of 2021 and completed her RYT200 yoga certification in the Spring of 2023 through Lori Pagliaroni’s Shanti Om Yoga Teacher Training. She has also practiced at a number of studios in the great boston area.

Off the mat Stefanie is a Global Client Executive in financial services. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion and has participated and held various director roles to advance these efforts. She loves to travel and explore local yoga studios wherever she goes. Stefanie is a mother of a son. She is excited to bring together a new community of yoga instructors to the Newport Community.

Stefanie’s quote on what yoga means to her:

“Yoga offers me an opportunity to practice my core values of empowerment, freedom, and authenticity.  Finding yoga has allowed me to find balance between the demands of the corporate world and my personal wellness.”

Fun Facts about Stefanie:

Stefanie is a dog mom of a Shitzu named Oliver and French Bulldog named Ben. She loves spending time with family and friends, hosting parties and visiting her favorite getaway from reality is Las Vegas!

Abbey Clark - Instructor

Woman practicing yoga pose near a window.

Abbey completed her 200-hour RYT training in 2017 and her Yoga Sculpt training in 2015 (both with CorePower Yoga in Boston).

Abbey has experience teaching a variety of different classes including heated and non-heated vinyasa power flows, slow flows, yoga sculpt, and beginner foundations classes. Most recently (2020-2024), Abbey taught at Evolve Power Yoga (EPY) in Boston.

Abbey’s approach empowers students to be more present: deepening intuition and the connection between mind and body. She offers a nurturing and welcoming space for all to find their edge and leave class with a fresh perspective.

Abbey moved to Newport in November 2023 and is excited to join the Titanium team to both teach and learn from members of this close-knit community.

Off the mat, Abbey works full-time in media relations strategy at a full service communications and public relations agency. She loves walking her rescue pup on the beach and spending quality time with family and friends.

Abbey loves creating dynamic playlists for her classes and believes that music can be a powerful tool in connecting to the practice

Abbey's quote about yoga:

"I became a yoga instructor to help others find the same light and peace that my mat has offered to me time and time again. I believe we are all on a continual journey of self-discovery, and that yoga helps us be more mindful and kinder to ourselves along that important journey. I have met lifelong friends as both a teacher and student of yoga – I am so grateful for that.”

Anna Todd - Instructor

Woman with dark hair laughing joyfully.

Anna received her 200 hours YT training certificate in 2018 and has been teaching yoga at Corepower Boston since then.  She is trained to teach all levels and styles of vinyasa or flow classes.   She became a teacher after trying yoga to heal an injury and it helped her develop a strong mind/body connection that she had never experienced before.
Anna teaches her classes according to the yoga philosophy connected to the yamas and niyamas as these philosophies have influenced her entire life.  Yoga is not just a practice but a true complete way of life for Anna. She is focused on students enjoying their practice vs. trying to look great in a pose and she helps students find clarity in their mind and connect with the body and soul as they move through class.
Anna is excited to join Titanium Yoga as she just moved to Newport in June 2024 and was looking for a community based studio that is centered around authentic yoga.  She is thrilled to join other teachers at Titanium that teach from the heart.
Anna’s quote on what yoga means to her:  “Yoga was the starting point that completely changed my life. It has allowed me to slow down, take my time, and not have my life be a fire drill.”
Fun Fact about Anna:
She has spent the last year focusing on traveling and spending time with family.  She has been in Mexico, Portugal and many other places and is now excited to call Newport home.

Drew Jacobs - Instructor

Drew has been teaching yoga for 11 years after he completed his 200 hour teaching training with the Sivananda School of Yoga in Madurai, India in 2015.
He has been teaching slow flow, vinyasa flow, yin, and hatha style classes over the years.

Drew believes the alignment of breath and movement centers us and allows us to be more compassionate and kind in the world. Of course, the physical benefits of increased flexibility, balance and strength are terrific. But the mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of connecting with our breath are even more profound. His mother is also yoga teacher so he began his practice through her.

His teaching philosophy centers around breath and alignment. He begins the class with intentional breathing. Throughout class, we align breath with movement. He believes in moving a bit slower through the poses to focus on proper alignment and focus on the breath in parallel with the asanas.

In addition to teaching yoga, Drew is a college football coach. He is presently the Defensive Coordinator for the Salve Regina football team here in Newport. Prior to Salve, he coached at Harvard University for the past three years. He also loves to bike, read, hike and play tennis

Drew joined Titanium Yoga in Newport because he heard great things about the studio and was very impressed when he came in for the first time.  The studio focuses on breath, alignment and community and that resonated with Drew. He also appreciates that the studio allows teachers to be authentic and teach a style they believe.

Fun Fact about Drew: At his yoga teacher training, they chanted and played instruments for an hour a day. They also ate their meals sitting on the ground, eating with their hands, in silence. All the while, there were monkeys walking around as they were in the jungle in India. It was truly a unique and genuine experience.

Carrie Johnson - Instructor

Carrie is a passionate yoga and Pilates instructor dedicated to helping clients feel strong, grounded, and connected in their bodies. She has her 200hr RYT and is A Comprehensive Certified Pilates instructor and has been teaching for over 25 years. She loves guiding students through a variety of styles including vinyasa flow, sculpt, and Pilates-inspired classes.

She has taught in studios and retreat settings, including experiences abroad in Greece, where she deepened her love for movement, community, and mindful living. Carrie’s classes are known for their energizing yet nurturing flow—blending strength, grace, and intentional breath.

Her passion for yoga comes from the belief that movement is a form of self-love and that our bodies are our home. She became a teacher to create a space where people can feel empowered, supported, and inspired—both on and off the mat.

Carrie’s teaching philosophy centers around moving with grace, listening to your body, and finding balance between effort and ease. She encourages students to honor where they are while gently pushing past limitations in a safe and uplifting way.

Outside the studio, Carrie loves being on the water SUP, kayaking, long walks on the beach with her dog, retreats, volunteering and community-based experiences that bring people together through movement and connection. She is also passionate about creating meaningful experiences that inspire growth and confidence.

Her favorite part about being part of the Titanium Yoga 22 Newport community is the strong sense of connection, empowerment, and shared energy that makes every class feel special.

Fun Fact:
Carrie recently taught on a Pilates retreat in Greece—combining her love for travel, movement, and community into one unforgettable experience.

Sarah Murray - Instructor

Sarah Murray - Instructor

Sarah Murray - Instructor

Sarah is in her first year of yoga teaching as she completed her 200 hour yoga certification in the summer of 2025 in Portugal.

She enjoys teaching vinyasa flow classes and slow beginner's classes.  Sarah decided to take the leap to teacher training because she wanted to bring how she felt after a yoga asana practice to others around her. She felt like she could communicate and make people feel peace and that push is what led her to yoga teacher training.

As a yoga teacher, she hopes all her students feel accomplished and balanced after a class with her.
Sarah's entire lifestyle changed when she started practicing yoga. She used to be very in her head and high strung. When she began to come more into her body, she became more comfortable coping with stress. This philosophy has changed how she sees other’s actions as well as her own. Sarah has become more accepting and forgiving.

Off the mat,  Sarah is a high school English teacher on Aquidneck Island. She has also been a Girl Scout leader for four years and loves guiding her troop in camping and crafting activities. She also loves to sit on the beach and read.

And a fun fact piece of info on Sarah:

She played college softball at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont!

Delaney Pothier - Instructor

Delaney began teaching in May 2025 right after completing her 200-hour certification at Sva Ha Academy in New Bedford, MA.

All her classes are beginner-friendly and super welcoming.  She grew up as a competitive athlete, but by college, her body was totally burned out. She ended up swapping weightlifting for yoga and fell in love with the practice, and how it made her feel stronger, calmer, and more connected to herself and others!

Delaney’s teaching philosophy really comes back to one of her favorite sayings: “flow like the ocean and ground like the shore.” She loves encouraging students to move with ease, stay present, and stay rooted in their breath. She tries to create a space that feels both energizing and grounding, like a reset for the body and mind.

Off the mat, Delaney works as a freelance marketer for a filmmaker in Newport.  When she is not working, she is usually by or on the water—surfing, fishing, paddleboarding, or doing yoga on the beach. She also loves to bake and grew up baking with her Swedish grandmother, and she commonly find herself baking her favorite recipe from grandmother - kanelbullar, or Swedish cinnamon buns.

She is really excited to be part of an uplifting, women-owned business where everyone feels welcome and at home. Titanium Yoga has such a beautiful presence in the Newport community, and she is looking forward to teaching both in and out of the studio and getting involved with events and everything the studio has going on!

And… Right after college, she started a juice company called 401Juices LLC (@401juices if you want to check out the Instagram!). She began by selling fresh-pressed juices to friends and family, then expanded into bars around Newport, supplying fresh juice mixers for mocktails and cocktails. It was a fun way to network, meet other entrepreneurs, and learn what it takes to build a business from scratch.

Mary Cadmus - Instructor

Mary received her RYT200 hour yoga certification in March of 2019 and she started teaching right away.  She has experience teaching vinyasa, power vinyasa, slow flow and gentle yoga classes. As a yoga teacher, Mary looks to create a space where everyone feels welcome regardless of ability or experience.  She likes to give options for students to either soften the flow or amp it up. She will help students to strengthen and lengthen the body while having time to get in and out of poses.

Mary absolutely loves the Newport community and TitaniumYoga is right at the heart of my every day life!  She is excited to include new people and to learn from all of our wonderful teachers.

Off the mat Mary is a makeup artist for the last 24 years and she works actively in the Newport community.  Mary spends much of her free time walking her dog in town and spending time with family.

Mary’s quote on what yoga means to her:

“My yoga practice has been such a healing gift in my life that I wanted to help share that with others.   Gifts like: a calm mind, compassion for myself and others, inner and outer strength, community, patience, inclusivity, and the curiosity to try new things.”

Fun Facts about Mary:

She is a Barista right down the street at Empire Tea & Coffee!

Courtney Trahan - Instructor

Courtney Trahan - Instructor

Courtney completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Shanti Om Yoga in 2026.

She has taught community Vinyasa classes and is excited to teach Vinyasa classes at Titanium which will be her first full time teaching opportunity.

Her love for yoga began in college, when she was searching for physical and mental outlets after years of playing competitive sports. Over the past 15 years, what started as a steady power vinyasa routine grew into a deeper exploration during the pandemic, when studio closures shifted her to at-home practice. Like many others in 2020, she turned to YouTube and found consistency in a daily routine following Yoga with Adriene’s playlists. Through this, she discovered the value in embracing a variety of styles of yoga, focusing on alignment, and really tuning into her breath. Feeling ready to take learning to the next level, she pursued her 200-hour training.

Courtney became a teacher because she deeply believes it is important to prioritize doing something for yourself, even if it’s just for that one hour, to show up, move energy, and connect to your mind and body, and she is grateful to create a space where students can do so.

She teaches classes that equally stabilize the mind and awaken the body, and she hopes students leave feeling happy, refreshed, and a strong connection to themselves and to each other.

Off the mat, she works as a Project Manager for a higher education marketing agency. Courtney moved to Newport in early 2018 for a job and never left! She is excited to join a woman-owned studio that focuses on creating a welcoming environment for the Newport community through a variety of class styles, workshops, and events. Titanium provides something for everyone, and she deeply values the inclusivity of the space.

Fun Fact about Courtney: Besides yoga, her favorite activities include spending as much time as possible with family and friends, crossing off experiences on her bucket list, competing in bar trivia, experimenting with new creative hobbies, and traveling. When traveling, she always makes a point of trying yoga classes in new locations if possible, which has taken her to studios all the way from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Cusco, Peru!
